Cemetery
Grace Church Cemetery is located near the bottom of Princess Street in a wooded area overlooking the Rouge River.
Established in about 1824 it was originally the private burial ground of the Milne family, whose farmhouse sat on the north side of the river. It seems to have been extended to the north and south, before being purchased in 1893 by the Churchwardens of Grace Church, and thereafter known as Grace Church Cemetery.
The graves of many of Markham’s early settlers such as the Reesors, Rolphs and Armstrongs can be seen throughout the Cemetery.
Today the Cemetery is reserved for burial for members of Grace Church, but our Scattering Path is open to members of the community. Please contact us for details.
